Using iTunes and iPads in Your Classroom

2 Why iTunes? Using iTunes provides another avenue for technology
It is easy to use and search for relevant content It’s free! On-the-go learning for your students

3 Don’t I Need an iPod or MP3 Player?
NO! You can still use the resources in iTunes without needing to purchase an iPod or other MP3 player. There are MP3 players in the media center if you would like to make those available for your students Most students now have an MP3 player that they can use with any iTunes content you provide…this is the on-the-go learning that is available with iTunes

4 What Can I Find Using iTunes?
Through iTunes and iTunes University, you can find… Podcasts Videos Audio Books All of these formats can be utilized in class or downloaded to iPods or other MP3 players

5 How Do I Get Started? First, you need to download iTunes on your computer You can do this from the staff launcher

Once you have installed iTunes on your computer, you can search for content relevant to your classes. Fine Arts History Math Science Language Arts

17 Podcasts Be sure to look for the free podcasts offered by iTunes

Once you have found a podcast, audio or video program that you want to download, follow these steps on the following slides

22 Any downloaded materials will be stored in your library according to its type (podcast, iTunes U, etc.)

23 What are some ways I can use my downloaded content with my classes?
Have students listen to a selected podcast and then have them create a presentation based on what they heard Use videos to incorporate into your lesson plans to emphasize the content you are working on Find resources that students can use as study guides The possibilities are endless!
