A collaboration between the Aurora Fire Department, Colorado Children’s Immunization Coalition, and Tri-County Health Department to provide immunizations for the community

2 WHY? From Colorado was ranked 50th in the United States for fully immunized children age 19months – 35 months Currently, Colorado is ranked 44th

3 Where? City of Aurora Pop. 313,000 150 sq. miles

4 GOAL Improve the immunization rates of the children in Aurora.
Protect children from vaccine-preventable diseases. Form new community partnerships

5 Requirements Low cost / No cost Ease of use
Convenient location and hours of operation

6 Our Concept Offer free weekend immunization clinics in a central location to provide vaccines to all children in the community Partner with other stakeholders for expertise Utilize firefighter-paramedics for vaccine administration

13 TCHD – Vaccines TCHD is a Vaccines For Children (VFC) Program Provider
We bring ALL recommended VFC vaccines Pre-package vaccine the morning of the clinic, deploy them to the fire station, and take them back to TCHD for final storage All frozen vaccine is kept on Dry-Ice

14 TCHD – Medical supplies and support
TCHD provides all of the medical supplies, including records, fliers, SHS information, clerical – office supplies These supplies are stored at the fire station and replenished as needed Lead clinic nurse trouble shoots and helps administer vaccines during the clinic

15 TCHD – Patient Records TCHD tracks and inputs all patient information into their patient tracking system All SFT’s clinic data are uploaded to the State Immunization Registry TCHD mails reminder postcards to patients each month

TCHD collects information regarding: Clinic attendance (patient count) Number of immunizations administered Reminder cards mailed each month Zip code analysis Volunteer information Donations

18 Rotary Clubs in Aurora Three local Aurora rotary clubs share the non-essential volunteer positions Rotary Club of Aurora – cover Jan. thru June Aurora Gateway Rotary – cover July thru Sept. Aurora Fitzsimon Rotary – cover Oct. thru Dec. Provide lunch for all volunteers Assist with setup and teardown of clinic as well as keeping cabinets stocked Support with additonal funds/time for other needed items/events
