1 Tropical Dry Forest “Monsoon Forest”
By Logan Keeney and Kevin Dubanowitz

2 Location Between ten and twenty degrees latitude
Primarily found on the borders of the tropical rain forests Found in Central America, Southern Asia and some parts of Australia.

3 Location

4 Climate High temperature all year around Dry season 6 to 7 months
Wet season lasts for 5 months A abundant amount of rainfall Average rainfall …….

5 Soils Very Old Less acidic then rain forests Nutrient rich
Due to the wet season the soil becomes vulnerable to erosion

6 Biodiversity Species diversity less than that of the tropical rain forests Important habitat for migratory birds in the non-breeding season Special adaptations of plants and animals Seasonality

7 Vegetation Growing conditions are exceptional during the wet season not dry Most Species are deciduous Light penetration allows for dense undergrowth

8 Animals Larger Animals are prominent in this environment
Orangutan Monsoon Monkey Larger Animals are prominent in this environment Reproductive cycles seasonally affected The animals migrate with the seasonal changes Koberil Sloth Bear

9 Human Influences Densely settled due to the fertile soils
It has been gradually decreased over the years from the lumber industries Impacted by the loss of biological diversity Many efforts to reforest, restore the Tropical Dry Forest have been started
