Created policy and implemented amongst staff through PTC’s at Departmental meetings
Engagement with young people through Stop Smoking Day 8 March 2017
Tutor programme designed and rolled out across S1-6 with appropriate assemblies

4. Engagement
Pupil engagement- young people volunteered (S1-4) to b a group to speak to P7’s on transition as well as visit local feeder primary schools to spread the importance of why ICHS is a Tobacco Free School

5. Project consisted of activities including life size bodies in which young people placed post it notes about how and why that part of the body was affected by smoking
Video clips showing the impact of smoking from a doctor, dentist and sports specialist

6. Creation of poster to advertise around their school and ICHS on why we have chosen to be a tobacco free school
Group wrote to coal businesses for support with prizes for winners including display of posters

7. Next steps
Engagement with parent teacher council- support and implement policy with parents and carers
Local newspaper involvement with school and community to showcase the work and why ICHS has chosen to support this

8. Educating staff further (out with House Team) so they feel confident in delivering information and education to young people and their parents/carers on the benefits of giving up smoking and the impact it can have on their life
Embedding the tobacco free project within the inspire learning programme as well as within PSE
