3 Mix up Lots of people mix adjectives and adverbs up.
Remember – adjectives describe nouns! Adverbs talk about what’s happening within the sentence. How is it happening? Where is it happening? When is it happening?

4 When is the action happening? Where is the action happening?
The football game is today. Where is the action happening? The football game is there. How is the action happening? The football game will happen quickly. To what extent is the action happening? The football game will happen very quickly.

5 Examples: The baby crawled quickly across the floor.
He scooted here and there. His mom could not catch him. Shakespeare can be very difficult to read. You must read them extremely slowly.

6 Practice 1. Jillian walked slowly down the creepy hallway.
2. Joe was very tired after studying for the test. 3. Allison wrote her paper rather sloppily. 4. Jake is driving there after school. 5. Tomorrow is the party.
