What does a function “graph” look like?????
To show the function table on the calculator: Enter the function: or Look at Table: Use the arrow keys to move up and down the table What does a function “graph” look like????? Use and the arrow keys to move along the line. The display will not be friendly to students because the values are not integers. will make the display “friendly”.

Function Boxes and Tables
(1 + 3) 2 x 5 (2 + 3) 6 x ? (6 + 3) Complete the table: input function output 1 2x + 1 3 7 11 ? Functions and Graphs Why do we have to know this?????? Why should this be important to me?????? Famous Question: What do I have to make on my next test to have a B? (85 or what for lowest B?) Grades so far: 99, 85, 77, 80 Next test: ???? X !!!! Set up: ( X ) / 5 Output: AVERAGE!!!!
9
Try not to look so excited.
We can make a table and fill in values……OR we can use technology ….. To set up the “graph paper”: input x test grade x[0,100] 5 output y average y[0,100]5 Try not to look so excited. Use and the arrow keys to answer the question. If you prefer the function table… <TABLE> No applause, just money!

A mini lesson on slopes and lines
Two points determine a line Two points determine the slope Slope intercept form y = mx + b y=x (our favorite line?) Fahrenheit and Celsius (100, 212); (0, 32) F = (9/5)C+ 32 The Montana Equilibrium

2008 (SM)2I “Midway” Progress Report
June 16, 2008 CIRCLE THE NUMBER THAT CORRESPONDS TO THE MOST ACCURATE ANSWER FOR YOU 1. The material covered has been beneficial to me. 2. The pace (of the activities) is appropriate to me. 3. I have found most of the activities to be challenging to me. 4. The topics are in line with the Mississippi Mathematics Framework and the Technology Standards for Teachers. Topics I would like to see featured in the second half of the Institute: I have the following questions: Funded by the U.S. Department of Education and administered by the Mississippi Institutions of Higher Learning (IHL). Sponsored by the USM College of Science and Technology, College of Education and Psychology, the Center for Science and Mathematics Education, and the Department of Mathematics
