3 Real World Impact - Understand
“I was lucky to have been born in the computer age. Without them, my life would have been miserable and my scientific career impossible.” – Dr. Stephen Hawking The work we do or do not do has real world consequences – all the time – we need to understand that! Q – Thoughts about this? Does anyone here have a similar example or story they’d like to share? "The moral test of government is how it treats those who are in the dawn of life the children; those who are in the twilight of life the elderly; and those who are in the shadow of life the sick the needy and the disabled." - Hubert H. Humphrey "New information and communications technologies can improve the quality of life for people with disabilities, but only if such technologies are designed from the beginning so that everyone can use them. Given the explosive growth in the use of the World Wide Web for publishing, electronic commerce, lifelong learning and the delivery of government services, it is vital that the Web be accessible to everyone." - Bill Clinton

Finding the right answers starts with asking the right questions …..

6 Real World Impact - Foundations
Inclusion is the norm, not the exception. Applied Cognitive Technology – extends the foundational efforts established by AT (while still allowing for that niche market). Technology levels the playing field and is the best tool for ensuring self-determination and quality of life. In order to achieve a “real world impact” we have to operate from strong foundations

It functions as a change agent. It puts communities in the driver’s seat, if that’s what they want. Anne Lamott quote: “Lighthouses don’t go running all over an island looking for boats to save; they just stand there shining.” – promotes possibilities.
