Born Gabrielle Bonheur "Coco" Chanel (19 August 1883 – 10 January 1971)
In 1895, when she was twelve years old, Chanel’s mother died of tuberculosis
1901 –after six years leaving in a orphanage she moves in a Catholic girls house in Moulins
While living with Balsan, Chanel began designing hats as a diversion
In 1908 Chanel began an affair with one of Balsan's friends, Captain Arthur Edward 'Boy' Capel
He installed Chanel in an apartment in Paris and financed Chanel's first shops and she expanded her business
She died on Sunday, January, 10th 1971
