5 Completing Applications
Look at eligibility, requirements, special considerations, to see if the scholarship fits you. Read the instructions carefully. Make sure you understand what the scholarship is asking for. Complete applications online if possible. If completing a paper application, print neatly, use black or dark blue ink. Answer all sections completely. Do not leave anything blank. If the application asks for an official transcript, make sure you request one from the registrar. Do not use a copy. If the application asks for a letter of recommendation, make sure you ask the recommender at least 2 weeks ahead of your deadline. Watch deadlines. Nothing will be accepted after a deadline. If the deadline has a postmark deadline, make sure to make that date. If it doesn’t and you are required to mail it, make sure you mail it in time for the scholarship to arrive by the deadline.
