Peter’s Chapter Notes This chapter’s theme: “Be strong and courageous”
God speaks this through Joshua Obey the Law given through Moses to the people Do not be afraid of your enemies God will fight for you Who was Rahab? (pgs. 90 & 91) What did she do? Did God use her to accomplish his plan? YES!

Peter’s Chapter Notes What happened when the Israelites crossed the Jordan River? (pg. 91) The water stopped and they crossed on dry ground. Sound familiar? Battle of Jericho (pg. 94) Why did the Israelites kill the inhabitants except for Rahab and her family? Consequences for worshiping false gods Does God treat us for what our sins deserve? NO WAY!! Jesus was punished on our behalf! That’s great news for us!

Peter’s Chapter Notes “The sun stopped in the middle of the sky and delayed going down about a full day” (pg. 97) What was happening here? God of the Universe can do anything. He fought for the Israelites and defended his people. “So Joshua took the entire land, just as the Lord had directed Moses, and he gave it as an inheritance to Israel according to their tribal divisions. Then the land had rest from war.” (Pg. 99) A new nation was being formed. God’s covenant to Abraham was coming true!

Peter’s Chapter Notes Joshua’s final message/warning to Israel: If you serve other gods – God will punish you. Serve God and obey him. What do you think Israel will do?! We’ll find out in the next chapter.
