Inspection process for plastic parts
001 Compare scanned data from a physical manufactured part with original CAD data and generate inspection report. Scanned data from optical or CT scanner Original part file in Creo Parametric Report shall meet the consumers needs Neutral format support missing No best practices for MBD available Software functionality missing on authoring side How to set up annotations in Creo Parametric Supported types of annotation features, datums, inspection dimensions, GD&T,... How to export CAD file to scanner software including annotations and/or model intelligence Jan Stothfang (Braun GmbH)
2
Export Creo Parametric file to STEP and read in to scanner software
001 Export Creo Parametric file to STEP and read in to scanner software Register scanned data versus CAD file ‚Best fit‘ or CSYS alignment Manually re-create inspection characteristics within scanner software according to the 2D drawing. Inspection dimensions GD&T Cross- Sections Manually generate inspection report 3D colored viewing file PowerPoint presentation with snapshots from viewing file Read in Creo Parametric file or STEP data into Scanner Software Register scanned data versus CAD file ‚Best fit‘ or CSYS alignment Scanner software reads and understands inspection information from CAD file Scanner software automatically generates an inspection report 3D colored viewing file 2D output (archiving, approval,...)

Definition of Manufacturing Information
002 Attaching manufacturing information to the CAD model to support an automatic CAD/CAM proccess Original part file in Creo/Parametric Part file will be used with Creo NC Part file will be exported to other NC systems Neutral format support missing No best practices for MBD available Software functionality missing on authoring side Software functionality missing on consumer side (Creo/view, ...) Internal Processes based on 2D How to generate suitable manufacturing information Attaching manufacturing information as annotations to the model Create intelligent manufacturing information for automated CAD/CAM process How to provide manufacturing information using neutral format e.g. STEP How to transport and incorporate feedback from the manufacturing departments back into a released design model Oliver Heins (Braun GmbH)

002 Create part file with manufacturing information as dimensions or annotations NC toolpath generated from 3D Creo/Parametric model or manually from 2D drawing Manually applying GD&T, threads, etc. by consuming CreoView file or 2D drawing Manufacturing issues are not reported as additional information linked back to the model Generate a Creo Parametric file with intelligent features that contain manufacturing information Exclusively display the intended information for the manufacturing purpose e.g. Transparency for drilled holes Easy point out areas for different surface treatment In Creo NC automatically generate toolpath from feature information Provide manufacturing information for using neutral formats e.g. STEP as single source of information and support automated processes Provide the ability for „manufacturing feedback“ linked to the model

Design data exchange with external partners
003 2D Paper/PDF and 3D STEP file based communication process needs to be transferred to MBD Need to communicate design data to/from small partners with limited IT and no PTC Software background Neutral format support missing No best practices for MBD available External partners require 2D information How to communicate MBD information with partners that do not use PTC Creo? Guide the partner to the information - table of content - what is in? - visible on any device without the need to first download some software How to enable the partner to annotate and communicate feedback? Stephan Prosser (Braun GmbH)

Export Creo Parametric file to STEP Create 2D PDF / printouts
003 Export Creo Parametric file to STEP Create 2D PDF / printouts Exchange data set with external partner Exchange an automatically generated neutral dataset with the external partner containing… 3D geometric information 3D annotated model with all relevant information like notes, tolerances, texts, tables, etc. All software needed to consume and annotate the 3D information A set of 2D information for printout to paper (archiving, approval, …) Preferably the software needed for consumption and annotation of the information is already on the partners device and well known to the partner like any Internet Browser, Acrobat Reader, etc.
