PBL: Project Based Learning

5th Grade Team Fifth grade team plans together on a weekly basis.

Grading in 5th Grade Teachers will use the following grading scale for student work: Progress Indicators 4 = Exceeds Standard 3 = Meets Standard 2 = Progressing Towards Standard 1= Below Standard ● = Denotes knowledge or skill not assessed at this time On the report card, you will see averaged letter grades. A – Outstanding B – Very Good C – Satisfactory D – Needs Improvement F – Not performing (As teachers, we do not focus on letter grades. We care if the student is meeting the standards!)

Teacher is not responsible for downloading apps and/or keeping track of password enabled devices. Homework Students will receive approximately 30 minutes of homework daily Homework will be written in student agendas daily. Parental supervision of agenda use is strongly encouraged. According to LCPS policy, homework will not be graded, but should reflect a high level of quality and effort. Students will be expected to have access to the Internet for homework assignments posted online (Google Classroom). Students are encouraged to make reading a part of their routine.

5th Grade Snack Notes If you choose to send in a snack for your child, no peanuts or tree nut products, candy, or soda will be allowed. Please send in healthy snacks! LCPS does not permit parents to bring treats in to celebrate student birthdays. Pencils, stickers, book marks are all suitable options. Water bottles are allowed in our classrooms, but please make sure they don’t leak.

IMPORTANT: If you need to change the dismissal plan for your child at any time, you MUST contact the main office, either by sending a note in the morning or calling them directly. Please DO NOT me dismissal changes. It can be difficult for me to see/respond to s during the school day, as I am focused on the students during that time. Also, I may not see if it I have a substitute that day.
