Define Board of Directors and Executive Committee Wording Changes for committees Extended SLCAO objectives Maintain similar governance style of SLCAO that has prevailed for many decades Introduce provisions for future proofing of Bylaws Include provisions for future borrowing/mortgages Limits the liability of Executive Members

Main Differences Constitution
Board of Directors is the same as Executive Committee Members ByLaws There is an Executive Committee that comprises the Board of Directors and Committee Chairs

SLCAO Objectives Constitution
* The objectives of the Association shall be to promote social, cultural, recreational and economic welfare of members, * to assist newly relocated Sri Lankans or former Sri Lankans in whatever ways possible and to create, maintain and promote an awareness of the contribution of Canadian and Sri Lankans and former Sri Lankans resident in Canada to each other by promoting special activities, *to help people live in Canada as well as outside Canada in disaster situations, and to undertake any other activities, which in the opinion of the Board of Directors, will further the interests of the Association.

SLCAO Objectives Articles of Incorporation
To promote social, cultural, recreational, and economic welfare of members; Assist newly relocated members of Sri Lankan origin in Ottawa to better integrate into the broader Canadian Society Contribute to the preservation and awareness of the Sri Lankan cultural heritage To undertake special projects to help deserving segments of the population living in Sri Lanka and To help people affected by disaster situations either in Canada or elsewhere To undertake any other activity by organizing, launching, assisting and/or promoting special or continuing activities at the discretion of the Board of Directors that will foster the interests of the Corporation and it’s members
