Before you pick a mentee
How much time can I commit? What did I wish I had when I was a new lawyer? What do I wish I had now? Are there any conflicts with my mentee’s current job?

The mentee (awareness of others)
What kind of person is my mentee? ( introverted or extroverted?) What is important to them? Do we have some core differences? Or common ground? What do they expect from me? What is their time commitment? How can I get them to their goals? When you are looking at the list of requirements, what do you need to focus on? What can you do for fun?

Set the Stage – Where are you going to meet? Ask for permission “Do you have time to talk?” State what you have observed Explain the impact Pause Suggest Concrete Next Steps Find out in that first meeting, what is the best way to communicate with my mentee? Text, , phone calls, facebook messenger Ask for feedback from your mentee? Are they getting what they want from this relationship?
