What was life like for Early Virginia Indians?
Enduring Understanding:
Early Virginia Indians had a culture of their own. They had their own customs and way of life. They used natural resources and lived off their land.

Interpret ideas and events from different historical perspectives. (VS.1g)

Essential Question:
What were the consequences of the war and Reconstruction?
Enduring Understanding:
The Civil War and Reconstruction resulted in Southern resentment toward the North and Southern African Americans, and ultimately political, economic, and social control of the South returned to whites. The economic and political gains of former slaves proved to be temporary.

The Civil Rights Movement resulted in legislation that ensured constitutional rights to all citizens of the United States regardless of race.
