Leaving a myriad of loving friends and family, James (Jim) Gregory Garrett passed away on April 14, 2017 as a result of melanoma. Jim was born in Walnut Creek on September 8, 1955 to JoAnne and James Meryl Garrett. As a Morada resident he graduated from Tokay High School. He earned his Bachelor's Degree at the University of California at Santa Cruz and graduated from California State University at Bakersfield with a Master's Degree. His career in the area of mental health included positions in Bakersfield, Bellingham, WA, and Stockton, serving most recently as San Joaquin County Director of Behavioral Health. From he was selected to serve as Counselor and Professor at Ave Maria College in San Marcos, Nicaragua. Jim was married to Susannah Kelley in He and Susannah raised four children, Hunter, Katherine, Claire and Devon. Since Susannah's untimely cancer death in 2008, Jim has successfully raised all four children providing a warm and stimulating environment. Hunter has completed two college degrees with honors and was recently married to Alycia Johnson of Ketchikan, AK. Katherine ("Trina") completed her Bachelor's Degree in May. Devon and Claire are continuing their education locally. - See more at:
