Industrial Demonstration Demonstration of validated technology with large emitters $40M for projects Currently oversubscribed Stream 2 Collaborative R&D in partnership with NSERC Collaborative research on GHG reduction technologies Applications currently under review Technology Development & Demonstration in partnership with SDTC Commercialization of GHG reduction technologies Up to $1M in OCE funds per project co-leveraged with Sustainable Technology Development Canada Stream 3 NRG COSIA Carbon XPRIZE $2.5M to support Ontario teams competing for the prize Tandem Technical, Pond Technologies and CERT (U of T) Solutions 2030 Challenge

4 The Challenge Challenge Statement:
Transformative technologies drive change… whether evolutionary, revolutionary or disruptive. Ontario is seeking transformative technologies that offer cost-effective greenhouse gas reductions for manufacturing and industrial processes to drive systemic transformations across sectors, and position Ontario as a global leader in building a low-carbon future.

5 Eligibility Anyone can enter via the online portal
Established companies Entrepreneurs/Start-ups Academics/Students Inventors International entries welcome Teams must commit to working in Ontario Competition funds must be spent on scope of work to be executed in Ontario Participation in the 2030 Challenge does not affect eligibility for other OCE programs

6 Target Market Large industrial facilities in Ontario
Cap and trade participants OR a sector with substantial emissions at multiple sites in Ontario Entries could help these facilities reduce: Direct emissions, indirect emissions, value chain, transportation (fleet management), GHG capture/conversion

Some approaches of interest… Alternate Feedstocks GHG Capture and Conversion Alternative Fuels Alternative Processes Energy Efficiency Resource Recovery Renewable Natural Gas But any approach is eligible…

9 GHG Reduction and cost estimates
Expressed as CO2eq but all regulated GHGs are eligible Rational calculations with stated assumptions are required for Phase 1. Capital cost and operating cost of the technology per tonne GHG reduction GHG footprint of the total addressable market in Ontario and internationally
