Matt 6:13“wherever the Good News is preached… this woman’s deed will be remembered” What do we understand from the text we have read? God does not reject those whom the world rejects. God appreciates expensive gifts (Yes he does!) Giving God, or His representative, a gift is a good thing

4 4. There is a season for a gift Gifts to God are of great benefit even to the giver. 5. Your gift will take you to where your ability cannot take you. 6. Your gift could be fulfillment of a higher purpose. 7. It is not only the poor who appreciate gifts.

It was very expensive perfume – worth a year’s salary It was presented in an expensive container The giver presented it as an act of worship – not boastfully It was a fulfillment of a part of God’s eternal plan It was given openly to honour God The disapproval of the gathering did not deter the giver It must have taken careful preparation and sacrifice

Matt 6:13“wherever the Good News is preached… this woman’s deed will be remembered” Conclusion : It is a good thing to give good gifts to God The basis of our faith is premised upon giving. God loved you and I so much that He gave His best to redeem us from destruction. It is worthy that we consider giving valuable gifts to One Who has given us so much. Not because He needs anythiong from us but so we too can partake of His divine nature of benevolence and generosity. In doing so, we become a part of His eternal plan and we stand to gain massive reward here on earth and in the life to come (Mk 10:29-30)
