1 These come in many different sizes, 50 mL – 1000 mL
Beakers Use: Holding solids, holding and measuring liquids. Also used for heating liquids. These come in many different sizes, 50 mL – 1000 mL Safety Precaution: Never set near the edge of sinks or counters. Wet glass is slippery glass!

2 Graduated Cylinder Uses:
Measuring Liquid Volume accurately in Liters, L and milliliters, mL. These come in different Sizes. 10 mL up to 200 mL. Tips, Safety Precautions: Always measure at eye level and look for the meniscus. (The curve in the liquid) Never set near the edge of a counter or sink.

3 Storing and Heating Liquids.
Erlenmeyer Flask Uses: Storing and Heating Liquids. Safety Precaution: Follow cautions for glass and wet glass. Never set near the edge of counters or sinks. Wet glass is slippery glass! Never look into hot containers, taste, or sniff.

4 Used to hold, heat, and observe liquids and solids.
Test Tube Uses: Used to hold, heat, and observe liquids and solids. Safety precautions: Test Tubes should be in your hand or the test tube holder! Never set on the counter. Make sure your hands are dry before grabbing a test tube.

5 Triple Beam Balance Use:
Used to measure the Mass of objects in grams, (g) Safety Precaution: Always Tare or Zero the scale before and after measuring.

6 Focus in until the image is sharp before going up in magnification.
Microscope Uses: Used to Observe objects too small to see with your normal eye. Magnifies 40X, 100X, and 400X. Safety Precautions: Always carry the microscope by it’s “arm”. The lowest power objective should always be down when adding or removing slides. Focus in until the image is sharp before going up in magnification.

7 Tips/Safety Precautions:
Meter Stick Metric Ruler Uses: The meter is the metric unit for length. Rulers are used to measure and calculate length, area, and the volume of regular objects. Tips/Safety Precautions: The meter stick and metric ruler are divided into decimeters (1/10), centimeters (1/100), and millimeters (1/1000). Know which units you are using and always write the unit with your measurement! Ex. 2cm

8 Thermometer Uses: Used to measure temperature in both degrees Celsius,°C (metric) and degrees Fahrenheit, °F (English) Tips/Safety: Always measure at eye level. Use caution when heating and measuring the temperature of liquids.
