Spring 2017 SBA Science: Grades 4, 7, HS Paper and Computer Based English (four forms per grade) Spanish (two forms per grade) Text-To-Speech Form: Form 1 CBT Read Aloud Form: Form 1 PBT Spring 2017 SBA Spanish Reading: Grades 3 – 8 & HS Paper Based Only Spanish Only (two forms per grade) *Ensure to indicate in spoken remarks that because PARCC is the appropriate Reading and Math retest for seniors, the SBA Reading and Mathematics Fall Retest (aka HSGA) is ONLY for cohort 2015 or older students. *Ensure that the Help desk is clear about this policy to avoid frustration at the district level having to pay for extra tests.

Spring SBA Science CBT Practice Testing
For the Spring SBA Science CBT, users will be able to practice-test in two modes: Kiosk-based (as done before) Non-kiosk-based (single sign-on/web-based) Kiosk-Based Practice Testing Non-Kiosk-Based Practice Testing Must use the device (i.e., computer, tablet, etc.) that has the iTester kiosk installed Can access it by going directly to: Or via the NM Help & Support Page: Practice test period: Jan 10th – Feb 3rd Practice test period: Jan 10th – Feb 24th Can practice using all accommodations and tools Some accommodations may be unavailable (e.g., text-to-speech, zoom/magnifier)

Where to Find Instructions
SBA Science CBT Practice-Testing via Student Kiosk A new version of iTester Student Kiosk will need to be downloaded for the Spring administration even if tested online in the fall. For mobile devices, apps are available in their respective app stores. Accessing the SBA Science Web-Based Practice Test There is one single username and password for each grade of the web-based practice test. Grade English Practice Test Username Spanish Practice Username Single Password 4 G4english G4spanish Practice 7 G7english G7spanish HS HSenglish HSspanish Remember that if you wish for your students to practice with accommodations, it would be best to do so using the kiosk-based practice testing environment.

iTester Updates: What’s new?
SBA Science Computer Based Testing iTester Updates: What’s new? Component Before Now Portal Home – Users Previously user accounts could be deleted from the user interface and there was not an interface and mechanism to reactivate user accounts. Previously user accounts could only be edited or added for a single user at a time and no user export functionality existed. Reactivate/Deactivate user accounts: Users can deactivate or reactivate user accounts. Bulk add or bulk edit user accounts: users can bulk-add new users or bulk-update existing users via user import and export. Administration - Students Previously, search for a student by Student ID returned only student name, a link to view assigned classes, and a link to edit the student. Previously “Read-Aloud” was used in place of “Text-To-Speech,” there was no text above the accommodations columns on the Accommodations tab, the “sub-accommodations” under Read-Aloud and Masking were brought out from under the primary Read-Aloud and Masking accommodations, the non-embedded accommodations list was updated per PED. Search for student search results will include grade level, View Classes link, Edit link: When a user searches for a student, the search results take the user to the Enrollment Info page where the student’s grade level is shown as well as a link to view assigned classes, and a link to edit student information. Update student information tab: Read-Aloud was renamed: Text-To-Speech, added text above accommodations columns “Embedded in iTester” and “Delivered Locally,” updated layout of accommodations, and updated the non-embedded accommodations list.

Previously, accommodations could only be added or edited for a single student at a time. d. Previously, a student could only be assigned to a classroom from the Classes page in the portal. e. Previously, the Students page and Class Details page were sorted by student ID and the first column in the tables was student ID. c. Accommodations upload: Users can bulk upload accommodations into the portal. d. Streamline the add student workflow: A “Classes” tab was added to the add/edit student page allowing the user to add the student to classes immediately after adding a new student or editing an existing student. e. Default sort on Students page and Class Details page will be by student last name: The default sort on the Students page and Class Details page will be by student last name and the columns in the table of students on the Students page and Class Details page are rearranged so that the first column is student last name.

Administration – Classes Previously, users were required to remove all students from the class in order to edit the name of an existing class. Users can edit an existing class name without removing all of the students from the class prior to editing the name. 4. Administration – Test Sessions Previously, only the end date was fixed and the start date could be edited. Previously, test session start and end times were shown in the portal. Previously, if a test report code was assigned, the user would need to click on the test report code link in test session details in order to see that a test report code was assigned to a student. Previously, users could print 8 or 27 logins per page Fixed test session start date: The test session start date is fixed and cannot be edited in the test session creation interface. Hide start and end time in test session creation and test session details: Start and end times in the test session creation UI are hidden. Indicate a student has a test report code assigned: The test sessions details page in the portal indicates that a student has a test report code assigned. Print one test login per page: Users can print one test login per page.

Previously, the student’s date of birth and middle initial were not part of the student test logins. e. Previously, students’ test completion status could only be viewed for one test session at a time. d. Student date of birth and middle initial added to student logins: The student’s date of birth and middle initial has been added to the student test logins. e. Export of students by test completion status: Users can bulk export a list of students with students’ test completion status by school and test. 5. Kiosk Not supported previously Previously, only the answer choice letter was highlighted and it was in green. Previously, students could deselect an answer once they answered it. a. Apple Automatic Assessment Configuration Entitlement: iTester supports AAC for assessment on iPad. b. Multiple Choice Item Style Change: Entire answer selection on MC item will be highlighted in blue when selected. c. Students cannot deselect an answer once they have answered it. Students must click on clear to deselect the answer, or click on another answer choice to change their answer.

Previously, sketch and highlight were not supported on iOS. d. Rename reset button: The reset button in the student kiosk has been renamed to “Clear.” The confirmation message that appears when Clear is clicked has been updated to use the word “Clear. *The reset button on Spanish tests has been renamed “Borrar”. *The confirmation message that appears when Borrar is clicked has been updated to use the word “Borrar”. e. Sketch and highlight will be supported on iPad: Sketch and highlight will be supported on iPads. Accommodations Description Text-To-Speech Test questions and answer options are read aloud to student in English (SWD 594 or ELL) (SBA, SBA Retests) or in Spanish (SBA ONLY). Note: Only the Read Aloud accommodation needs to be documented in an IEP. Read Aloud for CBT is delivered as Text-To-Speech rather than a human reader. Magnifier (Zoom View) Zoom levels to enlarge screen text. Reverse Contrast Color contrast toggle between light and dark. Line Reader Guidelines that the student can move up and down to display one line at a time. Color Contrast Color scheme for the text and background. *Make sure to indicate in spoken remarks that the Read Aloud for CBT is delivered as text-to-speech rather than a human reader.

On the Site Setup page, locate the school to be certified, and then click the entry in the Number of Devices Tested column. Click on the “System Set-Up Test” button to check for bandwidth, connectivity, screen resolution and if text-to-speech works. Then click on the “Student Interface Test” button to check your device interaction with the online testing system. Important: It is crucial that the Site Readiness Tests be performed on every device configuration that is to be used for testing. For additional details, please refer to the Kiosk Installation Guide.

Run Site Readiness Test DTC, STC, or IT Coordinator On the Site Setup Details page, verify that all of the devices for this school have successfully taken the Site Readiness tests. In the Site Certification section, click Certify Site Readiness, and then click Yes to confirm.

TA Responsibilities During & After Testing
SBA Science Computer Based Testing TA Responsibilities During & After Testing Distribute Student Login Tickets for each student assigned to you for testing. Post the Session Access Code for the test session at the front of the room. Monitor students to ensure they have logged on successfully and answer any procedural questions. Speak with your technology coordinator and/or Measured Progress Technical Support ( , option 2) about any technology-related issues that arise. If a student needs to leave the test room for any reason, be sure an escort is available to accompany the student to and from the test room. Collecting the Student Login Tickets and scratch paper

Pausing a Test During the test session, if a student needs to leave the test room, he or she must click Pause to pause the test. Once clicked, the Pause timeframe lasts for 20 minutes. If a test is paused for more than 20 minutes, the test administrator must open the test by entering a Proctor Password at the student’s device. This is separate from student credentials on a log in ticket. Contact the NM Helpdesk for more information!
