5. UNESCO supported TVET related activities: China (1)
Study on curriculum of higher vocational education institutions and school-enterprise cooperation (ongoing)
Main partner: Beijing Union University (UNEVOC Centre)
50 higher vocational institutions from 13 provinces involved in the study
Objectives:
Reviewing the current status of higher vocational education curriculum across the country
Identifying good practices and challenges
Proposing a set of recommendation for development of national curriculum standards for higher vocational education to ensure the quality and relevance
recent/ongoing UNESCO supported TVET related activities
Beijing Union University is one of the best institution in the country in the field of higher vocational education.
Higher vocational education: tertiary-level courses outside the university system

6. UNESCO supported TVET related activities: China (2)
UN joint programme on Youth, Employment and Migration
Participating agencies: ILO (lead), UNDP, UNESCO, UNFPA, UNICEF, UNV, UN Women and WHO
Geographical coverage: Cangzhou, Changsha, Chenzhou, Hangzhou, Jiaozuo, Tianjin, Xinxian, Yueyang
Study on policies and curriculum of rural junior middle schools and vocational schools to examine their effectiveness in preparing students for the world of work (2010)
Development of a comprehensive life skills training package for young migrant workers; organization of training through community centres, health centers, employers and TVET schools (ongoing)
The study proposed a set of recommendations for reforming policies and curricula to better facilitate the preparation of potential migrants, which will be brought to the Vice Minister in charge of TVET

7. UNESCO supported TVET related activities: China (3)
Support to the promotion of and capacity building of rural CLCs
->Some CLCs are now used as platforms to provide life skills and vocational training for farmers and rural- urban migrants to increase their employability and income level.

8. UNESCO supported TVET related activities: Mongolia (1)
Support to the newly established National Agency for TVET
Provision of assistance to conduct a tracer study (ongoing);
Support to organization of a national symposium on TVET (planned for 2012)
Integration of HIV/AIDS prevention education in TVET centres
(as part of the UN joint programme on HIV/AIDS )

UN joint programme “Comprehensive Community Services to Improve Human Security for the Rural Disadvantaged Populations in Mongolia” ( )
Participating agencies: UNESCO (lead), UNDP, UNICEF, and WHO
Target: Remote provinces (Bayan-Ulgii; Dornod; Uvs; Khovd; and Khuvsgul)
Livelihood skill training and local business development (component supported by UNDP) combined with activities of CLCs established with UNESCO support

Focus: Dissemination of international trends and perspectives through a series of workshops:
TVET planning (2009）
ICT in TVET for senior officials and leaders of the Ministry of Education and national specialized TVET colleges (2010)
TVET quality assurance and National Qualification Framework (August 2011)

UNEVOC Bonn Centre (in collaboration with RB and FOs)
Regular survey to review the status of UNEVOC Centres; sharing of results with each relevant FO
Categorization of different member centres, by types of institutions, roles played, scope of the work, etc.
Updating and upgrading of the directory (with additional information on focus of the work, interest, expertise)
Database on TVET: coordination and harmonization with other existing databases
Involvement of (selected) UNEVOC Centres in joint research activities at regional/international levels; dissemination of outcomes among all UNEVOC Centres and FOs
Possible event(s) at the upcoming 3rd World Conference on TVET (Shanghai, 2012)
