3 Dislocation A derangement of the joint parts
More common with ball and socket joints which have the widest range of motion

4 Herniated Disk

5 Herniated Disk The disk between the vertebrae protrudes through into the spinal canal This puts pressure on the spinal nerves often causing back spasms or pain down the sciatic nerve that travels down the leg

6 Osteoarthritis and Rheumatoid arthritis

7 Rheumatoid arthritis A crippling condition characterized by joint swelling in hands, feet and elsewhere Overgrowth of synovial membranes and other joint tissues cause the joint to become stiff and useless May be caused by autoimmune disorder – where the body attacks its own tissues

8 Osteoarthritis Usually occurs in elderly as a result of normal wear and tear Obesity and repeated trauma can contribute to it Occurs mainly in weight bearing joints like hips and knees Includes the formation of bone spurs

9 Septic Arthritis

10 Septic Arthritis Caused when bacteria spread to involve joint tissue usually by way of the blood stream Bacteria can enter the body through invasive medical procedures, illegal drug injections Can result in bone destruction in the joint Treated with antibiotics

12 Gout A kind of arthritis caused by a metabolic disturbance
Uric acid that normally is excreted in urine is forms crystals that build around joints Most commonly in the joint of the big toe and is more common in elderly men Drinking alcohol can make it worse
