As a passionate resident of East Cleveland, I truly believe that the views and opinions of all young people in Redcar and Cleveland should be represented in the youth parliament the way that they deserve to be; fairly, thoughtfully and powerfully. As a caring and open minded person, I would listen to and represent the opinions of young people in my constituency and campaign towards making life better for them. I would try relentlessly to develop a strong, aspirational image of our area, speaking on behalf of not just myself, but all young people. As someone who has worked incredibly hard in recent years to improve my confidence and self esteem, I would now be honoured to be a role model for young people who wish to do the same. Through work as an anti-bullying mentor for my school, I have developed and improved skills such as listening and empathy as well as learning to express views of others as passionately as I would my own. This has made me more approachable and presented me with new ways in which I can communicate with other young people; all skills which make me the right candidate to be your local MYP.

I have lived in the Redcar and Cleveland are my entire life and I feel I understand the problems that many of the young people in the area have faced and experienced. I believe the voice of the young people of Redcar and Cleveland is an important voice and a voice that needs to be heard.
Being MYP for Redcar and Cleveland would give me an effective platform to communicate the views and concerns of young people in the area. Views that would openly seek out from people all over our local area and not just the area in which I live. I aim to also use my term to support the right to vote for young people, as well as any issues throughout the local area. I would aim to improve support for invisible disabilities and mental health throughout the area which effect many young people.
As a member of the PIXL debating championship winning team I have experience of public speaking and would to confidently put across the views of young people

I want the opportunity to improve Redcar and Cleveland for young people and make the place where we live somewhere that caters for the needs of the youth. Our environment is important and we can work together to create a vibrant, safe and inclusive area that provides young people with the best start in life. Having already represented my primary school as both school councillor and eco-councillor, I know what it is to carry the wants of the student body and forge rapid change for my peers.

Hi my name is Ethan and I am 15 years old I live in Redcar and am in year 10 RyeHills school in my spare time I do things like:
I go to police cadets which means when we do scenarios we have to learn how to lead and get our message through
I’m a youth ambassador for a group called L4G which means I work with local people and businesses to help people get jobs and experience in the work place.
I am a deputy head boy at Ryehills which comes with a lot of responsibility from attending the meetings to help set up events and be a voice for people which would help if I became Redcar and Cleveland’s MYP
Along with these and more it has taught me a lot and sometimes I’ve had to learn from my mistakes like everyone else. The main reason I want to become the MYP leader for this area is to help give people who don’t have a voice against something the ability to talk to someone who can in what happens one my aim is mainly to improve peoples lives even if it means doing something small.

I feel as though I would be a good candidate for the role of MYP for my local aera as I have different views on political issues brought up by parliament. I also feel as though the younger generation don’t have the chance to have a say in the way this country is ran. I am approachable, friendly and respect other peoples opinions. I deal well with being the leader as well as letting others take lead. I am in the sea cadets so I know when the right time to speak is and when my voice needs to be heard. I consider myself to be open minded and someone who isn’t afraid of speaking their mind. Alongside these reasons as to why I wish to be your local MYP, I am prepared to speak to anyone who is willing to share their thoughts and ideas with me.
