2. What IS Student Government?
The function of the Bradford SGA is to give students an opportunity to govern themselves and to assist in the governing of the school in a democratic manner under their own leadership
Membership consists of ALL students. You are all members of the student government. You are all a part of the general assembly. As such you are entitled voting rights and a voice in your government.
All SGA proposals must be approved via vote by the General Assembly before being brought to the Administration or Bradford Board.
All students currently in 4th – 9th grade may run for positions.
Next year Middle and High School Students will vote on amendments.

3. What does it mean to Serve?
Those who wish to serve the student government will be expected to demonstrate:
Equality
Treating the members of the student government and the study body with respect. All voices will be heard.
Members should convey their classmates’, classes’ and their own ideas to the Counsel.
Integrity
Serving your student body with honesty, ensuring all information is delivered to the student body and other members.
Leadership
Acting in such a manor as to inspire others to follow and become future leaders at Bradford and in our community.

5. Cabinet – SGA President
Job Duties
Chairman of the Assembly/Cabinet
Reports quarterly to Bradford Board of Directors
Ensures all voices are heard from the student body
Calls weekly or bi-weekly 30 minute meetings with Student Government
Helps provide recommendations for updates to Student Handbook
Helps to facilitate Student Government Informational Seminar.

6. Cabinet – Vice President
Responsible for oversight, coordination, and along with the President, discipline of all committees under the jurisdiction of Student Government
Serves as the liaison between the President and Executive Committee
Helps improve the performance of the President
Responsible for order within Student Government
Release a quarter report for all committees.
Assists committees in attaining their goals
If President cannot fulfill his/her duties, this position would assume of the office of the President

7. Cabinet – Parliamentarian
Advisor and authority on parliamentary procedure to the Assembly
Responsible for detailed knowledge of the Student Government Constitution
Must make themselves available for consultation on procedure
Help Executive Committee maintain order during meetings
Responsible for writing proposals and finalizing/revising the SGA Constitution

8. Cabinet – Communications Director
Maintains the SGA Website
Responsible for communicating SGA news and updates to the student body
Responsible for monthly updates to the SGA website

9. Cabinet -- Treasurer
Responsible for drafting a budget for the following school year. Submitted by end of October and must get approval from Executive Committee
Final authority over the budget
All committees under the direct jurisdiction of Student Government will be budgeted

10. Cabinet -- Secretary
Responsible for keeping detailed and accurate minutes of all meetings and make them available for all to review
Responsible for maintaining and keeping all Student Government records
Responsible for assisting the Parliamentarian in writing proposals

11. Cabinet-Senate Heads Overall responsibilities are to:
Head all sub-committees and report to Cabinet
Report feedback from the Class Representatives to the Cabinet
Ensure all voices are heard from their respected grade levels and members
Hold Senate meetings once a month where student body is invited to voice opinions
A note on Sub-Committees:
Sub-Committees are open to the entire student population. After the election the Senate Heads will chair and solicit involvement from the student body in their committees.
The goal of the committees is to give feedback and make recommendations to the Bradford Board and Staff direct from the students.

12. Class Representatives
Overall responsibilities are to:
Represent the members of your class and ensure their voices are heard
Conduct a survey of your classmates
Hold class meetings once a quarter where student body is invited to voice opinions
The two Representatives with the most votes from rising 4th-10th grades will serve.

13. How to run for office?
Must fill out the Student Government Application: Click Here
Applications and signatures must be turned in by April 15th.
All Cabinet and Representative positions must RUN for office
Each candidate must do the following once application is filled out:
2 minute speeches to student body (SGA President & VP only)- April 25th
5/6/7/8/9/10 PE April 25th
Attend Student Government Middle School Lunch Meetings:
April 18th
Participate in campaign week
April 18th - April 22nd
Must participate in Democrafest
Lunch on April 25th : Candidates will have a table set up during lunch to share their platform & campaign
Voting will take place on April 25, 2015 after Democrafest.

14. Democrafest Democrafest will be held on during lunch:
Each candidate will have a table
Candidates are encouraged to shamelessly, but appropriately, promote themselves.
Other students are encouraged to roam the tables and gather information regarding the candidates.

15. Holding Office Holding office holds a great deal of responsibility.
Elected officers will be in place for the school year.
New officers will be elected in March of 2017 for the following year.
