Solar Eclipse at Northview Monday, Aug. 21, will be a special day
Solar Eclipse at Northview Monday, Aug. 21, will be a special day. We are so fortunate to be in a location that will experience the full effects of the solar eclipse. Grade levels have many rich learning experiences planned for our students including scientific inquiry and creative ways of learning more about the sun, moon, and eclipse. Recesses will be indoors as classes will make a few trips outside to observe/reflect on the changes over time. Please see the attached important letter explaining eyewear and precautions being provided. We strongly encourage your child to be in attendance on the 21st! They will be learning so much throughout the day! The learning will be an exciting topic of discussion for days following, as well. We do not want them to miss out. *Please send a beach towel with your child to sit on. *Parents may be hoping to experience the event with their child.* Please be aware of and carefully consider the following: 😎 Parents may consider joining their child 12:45-1:30 (a window of time that includes the totality around 1:08) 😎 Visitors must check-in at the table outside in front of the school. The line may be long. 😎 Parents will receive a map and go to each class’s outdoor viewing area to wait for the class. 😎 Classes will come outside at 12: 😎 Parents will stand with their child’s class or may take their own child(ren) to the family observation area. 😎 Whole-school events can create a parking dilemma. There will be few spots in the parking lot due to staff parking. Those that come will likely park on the street. Be prepared to walk quite a ways. 😎 Parents will leave by 1:30. Do not plan on checking your child out to leave with you. 😎 All parents/visitors must bring and wear their own ISO safety glasses. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ If you opt-out your child from outdoor viewing (see attachment), please be sure they are in attendance so they can participate in all of the indoor learning! It will be a “sun-mazing” day!
