A little about me… Bachelor’s degree from ASU!
Recently engaged! Getting married in February 2018! I have 1 cat (he’s all black!) I am from Illinois I have 2 siblings- one just graduated from USAFA, the other attends USAFA A few hobbies and interests: Hiking, swimming, reading, movies, painting, arts and crafts, traveling, baking, and ANIIMALS!

A little about Mrs. Berrett…
Bachelor’s from ASU* and Masters from NAU Married and have 2 sons, 2 rescue cats and 1 rescue dog From Minnesota… moved here for college! Second generation teacher This is my neighborhood school! A few hobbies and interests: Target Archery (34 lb recurve and longbow), playing board/card games, taking Disney Vacations!

Norms for 8th Grade All students will be provided with a paper agenda to write their assignments in daily. It is student responsibility to copy down the weekly calendar from each teachers’ board into their agenda. Assignments and test dates are also available on Ms. Graft’s website. Every Wednesday, students will have an advisory class to have additional help practicing organizational skills and check that their agenda is correct and up to date. All students are expected to be in their 1st Period Class ready to learn no later than 8:30am everyday. Students must have all of their supplies with them every day. Discipline – In class refocus area. Timeout in ISI Room Parent contact/meeting Office Referral

Agendas Physical agendas WILL be given out this year.
Agendas will be the main form of communication in your student’s classes. Agendas should arrive by the end of the first week of school.

Potential Expenses for 8th Grade
Yearbook The cost of a standard yearbook is about $30 – the price goes up towards the end of the year. Baby Ad is available for $25. This would allow you to submit a baby or childhood picture of your child and a personalized message to be included in the yearbook. The deadline to order a Baby Ad is early January – more info will come out when school begins. (Baby Ads are only available to 8th grade students.) 8th Grade Promotion Dance The fee for this dance ranges from $5 to $10. Big Surf This 8th grade field trip will be the last week of school. The fee is $20 and includes lunch. Disneyland for choir and band students The trip is in early February Ms. Figueroa and Mrs. Werner will provide information about the requirements for the trip and the fees. Mini Town This is a leadership training camp held in Prescott in February. All students are welcome to apply to this incredible opportunity. Applications available in November The fee is $185 and are due in January. Living History Trip Mr. Furman will be providing information about trip. The trip will take place second quarter The fee will be $297 and will be due two weeks prior to the trip. Sports Fall sports: cross country, boys soccer, and volleyball Winter sports: girls soccer, wrestling, boys basketball, girls softball, and spiritline. Spring sports: boys baseball, girls basketball, track & field. Fees range from $100 to $150 depending on the sport and are due when your student makes the team.

Invitation PTSO will be sponsoring a Meet and Greet breakfast.
7th and 8th grades – Wednesday August 16th from 7:30 – 8:30 a.m. Please come back and join us for a continental breakfast and a chance to socialize with other 8th grade parents!

Classroom Expectations
I have one main classroom rule and that is to be respectful. Please leave all Starbucks type drinks, Arizona Iced Tea’s, or any drinks that do NOT have a screw top lid etc. at home or drink quickly before class starts. You will be asked to throw away these kinds of drinks when you enter my classroom. Be to class on time and prepared. You must be in your assigned seat by the bell or you will be marked tardy. Know that you will not be allowed to leave the classroom the first 10 minutes or last 10 minutes of class as per school rules (not even for the restroom). Be sure to use the restroom before class.

Mathematics Tutoring **Tutoring is offered on every Tuesday and Thursday each week after school from 3:30- 4:30pm in my room. Please sign up with me as needed. Tutoring will begin when activity buses are up and running. See website to know when tutoring is available. ** Check Parent Portal regularly for grades. I keep my grades very up to date!

Great resource if you are absent. Check my website for daily in class worksheets and notes. Click on “This Week’s Homework and Notes” to look up daily classwork if you were absent from class. You can also find digital copies of worksheets to print or copy down work problems if you lost yours. I may also post additional resources and PowerPoints with notes and concepts that we are covering in class to use for extra support! me at if you will be absent from class. Parent Portal is ALWAYS updated daily with assessment/homework scores and due dates.

Parent VUE Parent VUE is a Kyrene School District program that gives families online access to a student’s schedule, assignments, grades and more. This is the same program families used last year. The District will be sending home more information about passwords and access soon. To access Parent VUE, go to click on the PARENT tab click on the link Parent VUE

Check Grades Online Anytime
Go to Click on “Parent Center” Log into service. You will need your username and password. If you do not have a username and password, Click on each class to check grades and assignments. We will NOT send out progress reports because you can check your child’s progress anytime.
