Summary Alter their communication slightly depending on who they are dealing with. For example, employers and officials are in positions of authority and should be communicated with in a very formal and polite manner. This may also be the case with coaches and managers, although this depends on their leadership style and relationship with the athlete, as some coaches may prefer more relaxed, informal communication from their athletes'. Team mates and colleagues on the other hand can be communicated with in a much more informal and relaxed way, although it is important to remain respectful to colleagues at all times.
