What is Drafting? It is a form of graphic communication that is concerned with the preparation of the drawings needed to develop and manufacture products. It is a very important part of modern industry because drawings are often the only way to explain or show our ideas.
4
Why is Drafting Called a Universal Language?
Like other languages, symbols (lines and figures) that have specific meaning are used. The symbols accurately describe the shape, size, material, finish, and fabrication or assembly of a product. These symbols have been standardized over most of the world. This makes it possible to interpret or understand drawings made in other countries.

Assignment Complete the worksheet Use Yellow graph Paper
Name and Period in the upper right hand corner. Drawings should be neat Drawings should show three views in the order described in the presentation. These are called Orthographic or Multi-view drawings Use Construction lines to lay out the views before committing to Object lines.

Lab Expectations Quietly go to your assigned workstation.
Take your notebook and something to write with. Only one person at a time to the Restroom or water fountain. If you need help, raise your hand. No talking across the room. Cell phones or any electronic devices should not be out or seen. Set cell phones to Silent Work on the assignment given until time is called
