2 Because of your continuous support, we are celebrating 13 years (and counting) of AVID success at Kell!

3 What is AVID? Advancement Via Individual Determination
The AVID College Readiness System, including the AVID elective and school-wide strategies, works to ensure students are college-ready by equipping them with the skills, academic behaviors, and college knowledge necessary to succeed at every level from elementary school to college. Established more than 35 years ago with one teacher in one classroom, AVID today impacts more than 1.2 million students in 44 states and 16 other countries/territories.  For more information, go to

7 Advanced Courses Kell offers AP and Honors courses in every major subject area. Students who decide to take AP courses also need to commit to taking the AP exams as well. MOWR / early graduation can be effective, but may prevent students from taking the AVID elective, so it is important to formulate a plan well ahead of time.

8 Family Involvement Goals
Strengthen the connection between home and the AVID program. Additional opportunities to support the program, including chaperoning field trips. Have current Kell AVID parents plan and attend a meeting or event for rising 9th grade AVID parents, especially students selected from McClesky.
