5 Women face the Depression
During the 1930’s the amount of married women in the workforce increased by 52% Educated women took jobs as secretaries, teachers & Social workers. Others as maids, factory workers etc.

6 African Americans The Black Cabinet.
An unofficial group of African Americans who advised FDR on minority matters. Many Black leaders began to press for Civil Rights.

7 Other American’s face the Depression
Native Americans: In 1924 all Native Americans were granted US citizenship. 1930’s Indian New Deal- law that gave Native American’s greater control over own affairs.

8 The Arts of the Depression
Painting & Photography during the depression. American Gothic Style. Radio during the depression. Listening to Radio became favorite pastime.

Later: made into a movie in 1953
