Nouns Overview A NOUN is a person, a place, a thing, or an idea.
Nouns are classified as: Singular or Plural Common or Proper

Singular Nouns A SINGULAR noun is a SINGLE (one) person, place,
thing, or idea. - All hope is lost. - The library is open. - Our team lost. - His aunt is ill.

Plural Nouns PLURAL nouns are MULTIPLE (more than one)
people, places, things, or ideas. - The kittens slept there. - The states are united. - Our teachers left. - My fingers ache.

Common Nouns A COMMON noun names a COMMON (not specific)
person, place, thing, or idea. - The hamster leaped. - A truck sped away. - Many horses died. - Some books were found.

Proper Nouns A PROPER noun names a SPECIFIC person, place,
thing, or idea. A PROPER noun is ALWAYS capitalized. - Sam lost his money. - A Ford sped away. - McDonald’s is closed. - I live in Alabama.
