1 Healthy planet = higher profits HP’s approach to sustainability
Bonnie Nixon Director of Environmental Responsibility

2 What is profit? As we all know, profit has several dimensions – at HP, and since the inception of the company in 1939, “profit” has always been linked to the betterment of the communities and societies where HP operates. It is a fundamental part of HP’s strategy to make sure that our growth is sustainable and by definition sustainable growth and profit require a sustainable environment where suppliers, employees and customers can thrive. In today’s environment, energy efficiency and reduced operating costs go hand-in-hand. HP’s experience in sustainability has continuously demonstrated that reductions in material usage, packaging and waste, and reuse are also good for the pocketbook. 4/29/2018

9 Towards a low-carbon economy
IT as an enabler REDUCE SUBSTITUTE ENABLE Reduce energy intensity and carbon footprint Substitute carbon-intensive processes by low-carbon ones Enable low-carbon economy management Energy efficiency: Intelligence embedded in buildings, manufacturing, transportation, agriculture… Paper efficiency: Digital publishing, print-on-demand, digital paper… Travel substitution: From telepresence to telework Dematerialization: Digital services to replace physical transactions, e.g. eCommerce, eBanking… Carbon monitoring and reporting software Carbon trading platforms Deforestation and glacial activity monitoring… 4/29/2018

10 HP is making it easier for
… to optimize the infrastructure, manage the print environment and transform workflows to use less energy, recycle more and reduce the impact of imaging and printing — helping reduce costs, save resources and deliver results that are good for business and good for the planet Reduce costs Save resources Deliver results Assess environment Reduce energy Eliminate waste Manage recycling Improve control Utilize innovations Digitize workflows Partner with leader Reduce footprint “In our analysis of the power usage of old devices, with a newer fleet, we could see that there would be definite energy savings.” Paul White, IT Print Services at 3M 4/29/2018

11 In summary: HP’s focus on sustainability has a long history, and we approach it comprehensively through improvements to our own operations, our supply chain, and our products, and delivering technology solutions that help solve fundamental sustainability challenges for our world. Our experience demonstrates that investing in sustainability is good business practice. Financial returns in some cases may have longer maturities, but more sustainable practices always increase efficiencies and make employees and customers happier, driving eventually to higher profits.
