Aims for meeting: To explain kit list, pocket money and medicines.
To clarify drop off and pick up arrangements. To give you an opportunity to ask questions

Kit list: Please limit luggage to just one case/bag per person (preferably on wheels). ALL items should be marked with your child’s name. You will need: Two or three complete sets of old, warm clothing, including fleeces/sweatshirts and long trousers (track suit bottoms are better than jeans). Two towels and a swimming costume. Long socks, long sleeved top and thick gloves for skiing (mitts are the best as they protect your fingers more) Waterproof jacket 2 pairs of pumps or trainers (one pair to get wet when kayaking) Sun cream A cap/sunhat A labelled water bottle Lots of plastic bags/bin bags for dirty laundry and wet gear. Full wash kit (we will be encouraging showers!) Teddy bear/cuddly toy

Medicine Hand in to Miss Parris on arrival at Bowles
Needs to be in its original packaging In a labelled container Clear instructions for administration, including times and doses With a signed note giving consent Calpol – We will have a bottle of Calpol with us. If your child may require it we will phone you for verbal permission before administering it.

Pocket money A maximum of £20 spending money. In a named wallet.
They will be asked to hand it to their group leader, who will look after it until they go to the shop. There is a small ‘Tuck Shop’ selling sweets, gifts and souvenirs. It is helpful if some £1 coins are brought, rather than bringing all notes. The children are only allowed to buy one sweet item each visit to the shop. They visit the shop two or three times at most. Pre-budgeting in class!

The children will be told their rooms and groups at Bowles
Up to 6 children per room Same gender Groups Split into two groups Mixed gender Friendship groups taken into consideration

What can you do to prepare them?
Teach them how to make a bed-duvet covers! Arrange for them to go on sleepovers Encourage independence through organising themselves for trips and activities
