2 For many students the key to their success in the classroom will hold heavily toward:
Appropriate adaptations Accommodations Modifications

3 What does modifications mean:
Modifications mean change of the way things are being taught or what should be expected from a student. Accommodations is a change that will assist the student too overcome or work around their disability. Both are meant to help the student learn.

4 Examples of adapting are as follows but are not limited to these that are mentioned below:
A student can be given shorter writing assignments The student can be given reading according to their level of comprehension. Test can be read and re-read The student can answer verbally instead of writing them down. Student maybe given extra-time A student maybe able to test over several days instead of in 1 sitting. A student maybe able to meet with their teachers in a small groups

5 UDL Universal design for Learning makes educational settings and tools accessible, these resources can be used for individual study or group instruction. UDL mainly focuses on central ideas that all people, even those that have disabilities will be able to effectively interact with their environment.

6 UDL UDL focuses on the ability of the teacher to meet the diverse learning needs of all of their students, even those students that have impairments that effect mobility, vision, hearing and learning. Some of the many different ways examples of UDL are as follows: Audio Books Large printed books CD’s These reduce barriers in instruction as it provides appropriate accommodations which support all students. This includes student’s with disabilities and students that have limited English.

7 Universal Design for Learning-Benefits
The benefits of using UDL’s helps to provide additional and different flexible support instructional methods to make sure that every student will be able to have access too participate in and process the curriculum that is being taught. UDL meets the diversity learning needs of every student.

8 Conclusion The main difference between UDL and Assistive Technology is that (AT) devices and services are written into the students IEP. (AT) strategies are developed for the individual student. UDL benefits all students, it embeds accommodations and integrates them into the overall IEP of curriculum instruction. Note-Congress passed the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) which replaced No Child Left Behind Law. This was the first time that UDL was endorsed by educator’s k-12.
