INTRODUCTION Mary´s complete name is Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley but when she was a bachelor girl, her name was Mary Wollstonecraft Godwin. She was a novelist and her most important works were “Frankenstein” and “The Last Man”. She was born on August 30th, 1797 in London, England and she was dead on February 1st, 1851 at the age 53 in London, too. Mary Shelley´s parents were Mary Wollstonecraft (her mother) and William Godwin (her father).

Mary´s relationship Mary Shelley started a relationship with Percy Bysshe Shelley, although he was already married. They lived in France and they travelled through Europe. When they returned, Mary was pregnant. When their daughter was born, she died by premature birth. Percy´s wife committed suicide in 1816, then Mary and Percy got married.

THE ORIGINS OF “FRANKENSTEIN”
The main idea of Frankenstein's story occurred to Mary near Geneva, Switzerland, on a holiday that Mary and Percy spent with their friends George Gordon Byron, John William Polidori and Claire Clairmont. The story of “Frankenstein” is based on small details of Mary´s life.

Mary Shelley´s parents
WILLIAM GODWIN. He was a British politician and writer. He was born in Wisbech, county of Cambridge. He belonged to a middle-class family and when he finished his studies, he became a priest. MARY WOLLSTONECRAFT. She was born in 1759 and was an English philosopher and writer. He wrote novels, short stories, essays, tracts, a travelogue and a children's book. Today, Mary is considered an important feminist philosopher.
