Make an appointment with Mr. Matthews to start the NCAA Clearinghouse process. To participate in college athletics, students must meet NCAA eligibility requirements.

We recommend that students apply to Arizona universities early because they begin awarding scholarships in October. Out-of-state colleges will have different application deadlines, please be aware of their individual requirements.

Know the minimum requirements Check the websites and college handbooks Look for minimum course requirements Look for average SAT/ACT scores Apply Early If you need a counselor recommendation, give us two weeks and supply information about where the recommendation is going and a resume Know the scholarship application deadlines for each school Make sure your application is complete with transcripts (dual enrollment and high school), application and test scores

LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION
Please give your counselor two weeks for any recommendations needed for colleges or scholarships Resumes are requested to help the counselor write the letter. Please provide information about where letter is going. Stamped envelopes needed if not online.

Scholarships and Financial Aid
Attend an informational meeting on the FAFSA form in January (at DV) Fill out the FAFSA form in January 2014 based on student & parents’ income taxes for 2013 DO IT , even if you think you won’t qualify for financial aid!!

Additional SAT (1300 CR & M) or ACT (28) requirement from previous years Value changed from full tuition to 25% tuition Students have to submit information in the spring.

“A’s” or “B’s” in the 16 required core classes (“C’s” can be ignored with extra classes or good AP scores in the same subject.) AND cumulative GPA in courses used above 3. Exceed AIMS in all subjects OR Exceed in 2 areas of AIMS and get “3’s” on 2 AP tests. 4. Submit SAT or ACT score (score requirement TBA)

Scholarship Estimator
The DV/TUHSD scholarship website has a link to the ASU Estimator. You must use the core GPA, which is calculated using only the grades from the core competencies.

MERIT SCHOLARSHIPS When applying to Arizona universities, you are automatically considered for a merit scholarship IF you have taken the SAT/ACT APPLY early to find out results and have first priority with dorm rooms!
