LM 7805 IC 7805 is a 5V Voltage Regulator that restricts the voltage output to 5V from an input of 7.5 to 35 V DC. 7805 IC Rating : Input voltage range = 7V- 35V Current rating Ic = 1A Output voltage range VMax=5.2V ,VMin=4.8V If the voltage is near to 7.5V then it does not produce any heat and hence no need for heatsink. If the voltage input is more, then excess electricity should be liberated using as heat from heat sink.
