Classroom policies You are responsible for your learning in class. Mobile phones are not allowed to be used and should be kept in silent mode during class time. Those who disrupt the class may be asked to leave. Attendance will be noted at the start of the class. Tardiness will be considered half an absence. No make-up for missed activities, unless under extreme circumstances. Deadlines are to be strictly observed. Late submissions will not be accepted. All paper submissions will go through a plagiarism check before being graded. Students may come for a consultation upon prior appointment. All policies in the Student Handbook apply. The Psychology Laboratory policies governing the use of laboratory equipment and rooms will also be followed.

Tips for success SUBMIT YOUR REQUIREMENTS ON TIME.
Follow the guidelines for the requirements and be careful to avoid plagiarism. At the same time, do not quote whole paragraphs from your sources. Prepare well for your proposal and panel defense. Practice, know your material well and don’t just read from your slides! Come to class regularly and on time so that you don’t miss any of the exercises and experiments. Aim to do more in your requirements, not just settle with achieving the bare minimum required.

Reminders Today: On a ¼ sheet of yellow pad, write the names of the people in the group for the original experiment, along with 3 topics of interest Next meeting: Submit a 3x5 index card with a 1 x 1 picture with your name, course and address. Original experiment topic proposal – DUE 1/13/2014 (Monday) Choose one topic from your topics of interest and write your: Research problem, hypothesis, independent and dependent variables Three studies that used these variables to provide support for your research problem. Significance of the study – why is your experiment worthwhile? Description of your planned experiment.
