1868 – was sent to Roman Catholic school 1876 – was studying medicine at the University of Edinburgh until 1881 1882 – set up individual medical practice 1885 – completed his doctorate on the subject of tabes dorsalis 1885 – married Louisa (or Louise) Hawkins, known as "Touie (died in 1906) 1900 – served as a volunteer doctor in the Langman Field Hospital at Bloemfontein (Boer War) 1907 – married Jean Elizabeth Leckie 1918 – after his son death became involved with Spiritualism 1930 – died on 7 July from heart attack and is buried in the churchyard at Minstead Hampshire.
