2 Outline What is WIMAX? How it works? Advantages of using WIMAX.
Disadvantages of using WIMAX. Uses of WIMAX.

3 What is WIMAX? What is WIMAX?
It is a technological development to Wi-Fi networks, where it can transfer larger amounts of information for long distances by using a large frequency bands of radio waves.

4 How it works? How it works? Tower. Receiver with antenna. Radio waves.

5 Benefits of WIMAX Benefits of WIMAX 1) High speeds in all environments
( 70 miles, speeds up to 70 Mbps) 2) Exchange media (information, voice, image, 280 Mbps) 3) Standardized, same frequency equipment should work together

6 Disadvantages of using WIMAX
1)  Bad Weather Weather conditions (rain) could interrupt the signal. 2)  Wireless equipments wireless equipment could cause interference. 3)  Multiplied frequencies are used.

7 Disadvantages 4)  Power consuming It requires strong electrical support. 5)  Expensive network  Big installation and operational coast. 6) Lack of Quality Same tower - heavy traffic - it is very hard to maintain high quality

8 Particular uses of WIMAX
Practical uses Particular uses of WIMAX 1) Providing portable mobile broadband connectivity across cities through a variety of devices. 2) Providing a wireless alternative to cable and DSL for "last mile" broadband access. 3) Providing data, telecommunications (VoIP) and IPTV services (triple play). 4) Providing a source of Internet connectivity. 5) Smart grids and metering.
