Sugar Act: This was a British TAX on Sugar and Molasses that was used to RAISE REVENUE…It was Hard to Enforce and people could decide NOT to buy Sugar and Molasses
Stamp Act: This was a British TAX on al legal Documents. It had to be paid in silver and was a way to RAISE REVENUE…It led to Boycotts and Refusals to pay
Quartering Act: Stated that Colonists had to house British Soldiers. It was NOT a tax, but a way for Britain to SAVE MONEY

4. Code of Conduct
Samuel F.B. Morse Perfected the Telegraph allowing messages to be sent over wires using electrical Current
Morse would Create an Alphabet using Dots and Dashes (long and short pulses) to send messages that could be decoded
As he perfected the telegraph he would send news of the 1844 presidential nomination from Baltimore to Washington DC
As the Railroad spread, so did Telegraph Wires and messages could soon be sent across the United States

5. Steam Rooms
As The Factory System Grew in the North Steam Power replaced Water Power as a the main source of factory energy
Steam Power allowed factories to be built away from water and closer to cities and workers and increased the amount of factories and jobs
As factories grew machines improved and produced interchangeable parts in LARGE Quantities
These changes led to the advance of CUSTOMIZED Equipment to make certain Goods

6. Down on the Farm
As the Industrial Revolution advanced farm equipment would be improved and mass produced
John Deere invented a STEEL plow which could cut through harder soil easier
Cyrus McCormick invented a Mechanical Reaper to Make Harvesting Easier improving Farm Production
McCormick also advertised his product, gave demonstrations, provided repairs and spare parts and sold Machines on Credit
With the Inventions of Deere and McCormick Farm Production topped 170 Million Bushels of Wheat and Million Bushels of Corn

7. Convenient Stores
As the Industrial Revolution Spread so did inventions to make Life Easier
Elias Howe invented a Sewing machine and Isaac Singer would improve it and popularize it in America
Ice Boxes were invented in the 1830’s to keep food fresher longer and Iron cook stoves replaced the cook fires and stone Hearths to Cook food
Other earlier inventions would become Mass Produced and Cheaper including Clocks, Matches, and the Safety Pin

8. Cotton Gin Rummy
As the SOUTH began to Mass Produce Cotton Eli Whitney would Invent the Cotton Gin to easily remove seeds from cotton by using a hand crank
As the Cotton Gin became mass produces the Cotton Industry Spread Across the United States pushing Native Americans Further West
Cotton Production increased from 2 million pounds in 1791 to almost a BILLION pounds by the 1860s
With Cotton becoming MORE profitable Plantation Owners in the south increased the amount of slaves on their plantations to increase production
