Adjectives An ADJECTIVE is a word that is used to modify a noun or a pronoun. To “modify” a word means to describe the word or to make its meaning more definite. An adjective modifies a noun or a pronoun by telling: What Kind? Gray skies Irish lace Far-fetched tale Lowest price Which One? Either way Those girls Next day Last chance How Many? Five fingers Fewer hours One river Some problems

Adverbs An ADVERB modifies a verb, and adjective or another adverb.
An adverb makes the meaning of a verb, an adjective, or another adverb more definite. An adverb answers one of the following questions: Where? We lived there. Put that down. When? Water the plant weekly. We’ll see you tomorrow. How? Drive carefully. The rain fell softly. To what extent (how long or how much)? He hardly moved. Fill the tank completely.
