1929 Merger of „Gesellschaft für elektronische Hoch- und Untergrundbahnen in Berlin“, „Allgemeinen Berliner Omnibus-Aktien-Gesellschaft (ABOAG)“ and „Berliner Straßenbahn-Betriebs-GmbH“ to form „Berliner Verkehrs-AG (BVG)“
1938 The BVG comes under the ownership of the city of Berlin under the name „Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG)“
1949 Division of BVG, internal BVG management in East Berlin takes up the work, later a combine of the „Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVB)“
1961 Interruption of underground lines U1 and U2, trains on U6 and U8 lines no longer stop in East Berlin, only the U6 lines stops at Friedrichstraße station
1984 Assumption of operating rights for suburban railways in West Berlin by BVG (West Berlin)
1989 The Berlin Wall is opened
1992 Merger of BVB and BVG under the name „Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG)“
1993 Handover of operating rights for suburban railways to German State Railways
1994 BVG is transformed from an operation run by the city of Berlin to a statutory body
