Celebrate books! Cinco de Mayo
Library Lessons and Displays
Cinco de Mayo commemorates the Battle of Puebla, where in 1862 a small number of Mexican soldiers defeated the French 100 miles east of Mexico City. People of Mexican ancestry in the U.S. celebrate this day with parades, folk dancing, mariachi music, and other fun. Perhaps we celebrate it because the General was Ignacio Zaragoza and he was born in Goliad, TX.
At any rate, students will write about their culture and family life and display in the library.

National Teacher Week
Display books about teachers and school. Students will write a thank you letter to their teachers and pledge to do one nice thing for their teachers every day this week.

Campus Activity and Community Involvement
