4 1. Notice: Samsung Retail mode
Samsung Retail mode has to be installed on the mobile For updating Retail mode including S pen-Camera experience, you have to install Samsung Retail mode for Note8 first. If Samsung Retail mode has already been in the mobile, skip this step. Otherwise, please download the installation guide and packages for Note8 Retail mode from PVI or retailsamsung.com and install them to the mobile first. <Samsung Retail Mode> <PVI> <RetailSamsung.com>

5 1. Notice: Prevent burn-in
Please check if Camera app still turns on even after shoppers are done with Spen&Camera kit experience. If yes, please turn off the Camera app in order to prevent any issues resulted from burn-in.

6 2. Patch installation

7 2. Patch installation Run “Browser” application to download the Spen&Camera kit experience app patch file. The patch file is available on both PVI( / RetailSamsung( Search “Spen” and select “[Global] Galaxy Note8 Spen - Camera kit Experience app patch”. Click “Download all files” to download.

Click “Internal storage”. Click “Download”. Click the patch file to install.

Click “GET STARTED” button. Enter master password as “5444”. Click “OK” button. Wait until installation has been done automatically.

Unscrew and uncover the button cover on the bottom side of the experience kit. Install the Smart buttons to the connectors inside. Connect the power at the base.

Uncover and turn on the switch. Turn on the NFC for Note8. Place Note8 on top of the NFC chip of the button no.1 for NFC tagging. *NFC tagging on the button no.1 make both buttons connected with Note8. NFC chip

When the sensing message pops up, press “YES”. Toast messages will be shown as following when the buttons are ready; “NFC is detected”, “Pairing Succeed(Button1)”, “Pairing Succeed(Button2)”, “Service is launched”. Launch “Button Launcher” and check if the buttons are successfully connected. When the buttons are connected When the buttons are NOT connected  Try NFC tagging again

Install the smart buttons inside the base. Place the button cover back and screw to hold. *Please note that the Smart buttons with device label will be enclosed for the final kit. Device label *Please make sure to place the corresponding button for each number. **Please make sure to put the buttons facing up with device label.

4. Testing: Full Screen Mode message Full Screen Mode message pops up ONLY for the very first time pressing Smart button. Swipe up, click NEXT, and click OK to terminate the message. Press SPen and Camera button to check if content plays accordingly. Full Screen Mode message Notice Please check if Camera app still turns on even after shoppers are done with Spen&Camera kit experience. If yes, please turn off the Camera app in order to prevent any issues resulted from burn-in.

17 5. Troubleshooting

Troubleshooting Case1: When the toast message “Service is failed to launch” pops up, Case2: When the toast message “Pairing failure” pops up, Case3: When there is no response even if the buttons is pressed, Launch “Button Launcher” and check if the buttons are successfully connected. If buttons are not disconnected, please try NFC tagging again. In the case that NFC pairing doesn’t proceed normally, check if the power is well connected. Disconnected Connected Case4: When the toast message “Media file does not exist” pops up, Download and install the Spen&Camera kit experience app patch file again from PVI or samsungretail.com. (refer p.7-9 for patch installation instruction)
