Looking at Google Drive
What is so wonderful about Google Drive? Did Annie drink the Kool-Aid? Send large files Access from anywhere (really – even when board servers are down) Works on Cell Phones! It has its own search engine It has OCR (Optical Character Recognition). You can store all sorts of files Google Drive works with the entire Google Suite of GAFE Google Drive lets you share photos and videos with contacts.

Some reasons you might want to use Sheets
It is the closest app to Excel or Numbers You can demonstrate the data sets in pie charts and/or graphs Like Docs, you have autosave, the work is accessible and easily shareable For students, they can collaborate on a project and you can see who has made changes/additions and when

About Google Slides… Google Slides is the equivalent to Microsoft PowerPoint and Keynote 2) If you can do it in PowerPoint, you can (almost) do it in Slides. 3) The bonus features are the same as Docs and Sheets (easy save, cloud, revision changes, and live multiple-user collaboration)

Google Classroom is (IMHO) GAFE’s most powerful tool
1) Easy to use and accessible from all devices Very easy and effective communication tool for getting messages to students Similar to Facebook (something the children are familiar with) You can create assignments and give feedback When you create a Google Classroom, a shared drive is created so you can share documents, notes, and assignments with students

Probably the best part about Google Apps for Education is that there is so much information available on-line. For example, there are Google Cheat Sheets available here…
22
One last thing… Google Apps are just another tool we can use If you get stuck, ask for help – I’m not an expert, but I’m learning and there are tons of people online who are willing to answer questions

Google has a certification program for educators
You can work towards a real certification (but I don’t know if it will mean anything in Peel) However, the lessons one goes through and the tests and challenges one has to complete are actually really good. I’ve enjoyed the process so far… … but have yet to take the test MAIN PAGE
