A. Exchange Program

1. Eligibility KAIST Bachelor' and Master' Students
Minimum Acquired Credits-Undergraduate: 33 credits, Graduate: 9 credits Grade Point Average above 3.0 Students obtained sufficient language proficiency scores which relevant university requires Students who don’t have any disciplinary records

2. Partner Universities & Number of Expected Nominees
Refer to the attachment for partner universities & number of expected nominees Partner University Fact Sheets: Find them on portal announcement (zip file) Termination Reports: IRT Webpage *find the guideline on portal announcement

3. Expenses Tuition Fees: Exempt (Except fee paying program) at Host University Cost of living and other expenses: Participants are responsible KAIST overseas scholarship: 1.5 – 2.5 million (won)/person * Total amount of scholarships will be different depending on overseas universities’ location. * The availability and amount of the scholarship is subject to change due to the scarcity of funding resources.

4. Procedure and Selection
Submit online applications &submit the hardcopy with other required documents to IRT Internal selection: GPA(40%)+Study plan & Essay(30%)+English Score(15%)+English Speaking Proficiency Test(15%) *2.5additional points will be added to those who successfully completed Buddy Program Applications to the partner universities Pre-Departure Training *Students who do not attend the Pre-Departure Training cannot be selected as an exchange student. Selection at Host University

click either Student Exchange Program OR GE3. you cannot undone your selection once you click save

Step 4. Filling out the application (1)
Choose your current study semester. If you are taking a semester off, choose the previous study semester Your test result must NOT be expired. If the institution that you would like to apply asks for specific test result, you MUST have the test score. If you don’t, you are not eligible to apply for that specific institution. Choose the field of study based on your 1st choice. (e.g. Dept. of Chemistry)

Step 4. Filling out the application (2)

English proficiency test result *You must submit the original hardcopies for #2 and #3 IRT after uploading them -Fill it out based on your 1st choice -Need to choose at least 2 major courses -When you transfer the credits, you must have at least total 9 credits -Check out the website of the host institution (your first choice) and compare if we have corresponding courses at KAIST (when you are accepted for the program, you will need to confirm with your advisor for your course selection whether the courses correspond or not Fill it out based on your 1st choice of If the course doesn’t match with what we have at KAIST, leave it blank Write it based on your first choice Maximum 250 words for each section

Step 5. Printing out the application form and Submitting it to IRT
After you submit the application, you WILL NOT be able to SUBMIT SUBMIT it. Print out the form, receive the necessary signatures and bring it to the IRT with your transcript (original), English proficiency test result(original) before the deadline. *If you do not submit the hardcopy of the online application, we will assume that you don’t have the intention of applying for the program and therefore will be excluded from the nomination process ***Make sure to get all the necessary signatures. Failure to do so will result in undesirable consequences. Official seal is fine You MUST get the signature of your advisor. If he or she is on a business trip, make sure to get an approval by and submit the copy of the to IRT

6. Required Documents Transcript (including 2014 spring)
Online application English Proficiency Test Result (IELTS, TOEFL, TEPS, TOEIC) * The English Proficiency Test Result should be submitted even if the relevant university doesn’t require.

6. English Speaking Proficiency Test (Interview)
Students should sign up for a speaking test directly. (1:1 speaking test with a professor in Language Center) Apply: Choose the suitable time on the website ( *See Details Application Period: Sep.1st (Mon), 0am ~ Sep.5th (Fri), midnight Payment: Students are required to pay 10,000won for the speaking test. Interview Place: N4, Room 1104 (Please arrive five minutes before your interview time.) Inquiries: Language Center (T. 8732) * Details Step 1: Pay for the application fee(10,000won) to (Woori Bank) (Same name as participant, if not, contact the Language Center (T.8732) Step2: Choose the suitable time on the website ( - Sept. 15th: 9:30-10:20am, 5-6pm - Sept. 16th: 9:30-10:20am, 3-6pm - Sept. 17th: 9:30-10:20am, 3-6pm - Sept. 18th: 9:30-10:20am, 3-6pm - Sept. 19th: 9:30-11:50am, 1-6pm

8. Etc. The final decision of acceptance will be made by Host Universities. If a selected student withdraws from the program without reasonable cause, his or her application can be denied at the next selection. All exchange students are required to take at least 2 major courses, including double major or minor, and transfer at least 9 credits to KAIST once they return. *Number of hours must be marked on syllabus (16 hours per week will be counted as one credit)

A. GE3 Program

1. GE3 Program GE3 (Global Engineering Education Exchange) : An exchange program for engineering students. KAIST became a member institution as of November 2012 and exchanges will be conducted with GE3 member universities. Webpage:

2. Eligibility Undergraduate students majoring in engineering or computer science Minimum Acquired Credits: 66credits * 3rd year, and first semester of the 4th year students are preferred. Grade Point Average above 3.0 English Speaking Countries: iBT 80 * Please check the English requirements of each university you are applying for(attachment 3). If you are applying for one of these universities which require higher scores than iBT TOEFL 80, you must meet the requirements as specified. * Students applying for a non-English speaking country must also have valid language proficiency scores of one of the followings: TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, TEPS Students who don’t have any disciplinary records

4. List of Member Universities & Student Intake
2015 Spring Semester Intake: Approximately 5 students Exchange Period: One semester List of Member Universities: Refer to the attachment 3 Student Intake per University: Not available. Students should choose up to five universities and will be placed accordingly based on the IIE’s decision.

5. Expenses & Others Tuition Fees: Exempt at Host University
Cost of living and other expenses: Participants are responsible KAIST overseas scholarship: Same as KAIST exchange program Important: KAIST chooses internal nominees, however IIE (Institute of International Education) makes the final decision. Thus, should you only choose competitive English speaking universities, please bear in mind that you may not necessarily be placed in the university you wished to enter.
