French Fried Hamilton and Jefferson remained Torn between who to side with in the French Revolution Jefferson wanted to side with France because France had helped us in the American Revolution Hamilton wanted to support the British because they were our biggest trade Partner Thomas Jefferson would resign from Washington’s Cabinet because He thought Hamilton had interfered too much with the position of Secretary of State

Jay Walking The United States became increasingly upset with the capture of American Ships in the French West Indies and interfering with Native American Affairs and sent John Jay to negotiate a Treaty with Britain Under Jay’s Treaty America would repay war debts owed to the British while Britain would leave forts in the Northwest and Pay for damages to seized American ships The Northerners dislike the treaty because the punishments to Great Britain were not severe enough and the south disliked that Britain did not have to repay them for lost slaves

That’s how you do a Treaty!
Spain began to cause problems in the South and closed the Port of New Orleans to trade Thomas Pinckney was sent to discuss the problems with Spain, looking to reopen the port of New Orleans and get rid of the fees to Transfer goods at the Port Pinckney’s Treaty established the Border of Spain and American Territory at the 31st Parallel and reopened the port of New Orleans without the Fees

A weak Rebellion Washington And Hamilton passed a tax on Whiskey which was seen as a threat to the farmers who used it for trade Protesters in Pennsylvania began to protest the tax and refused to pay it which led to the Whiskey Rebellion The rebellion was seen as a threat to the Federal government and Washington needed to show the government had the power to enforce the laws it passed Washington Mobilized, and led, 13,000 troops to enforce the tax, and most of the Rebels fled ending the rebellion without conflict
