THE KEY TO REVIVAL “HUMILITY” II Chronicles 7:10-15
2
II Chronicles 7:10-15 “On the twenty-third day of the seventh month he sent the people away to their tents, rejoicing and with happy hearts for the goodness the Lord had done for David, for Solomon, and for His people Israel. So Solomon finished the Lord’s temple and the royal palace. Everything that had entered Solomon’s

heart to do for the Lord’s temple and for his own palace succeeded. Then the Lord appeared to Solomon at night and said to him: I have heard your prayer and have chosen this place for Myself as a temple of sacrifice. If I choose the sky so there is no rain, or if I command the grasshopper to consume the land, or if I send pestilence

on My people, and My people who are called by My name humble themselves, pray and seek My face, and turn from their evil ways, then I will hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land. My eyes will now be open and My ears attentive to prayer from this place.”

1. PRIDE HINDERS GENUINE REVIVAL.
6
A. God hates pride Proverbs 6:16-19 “The Lord hates six things; in fact, seven are detestable to Him: arrogant eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that plots wicked schemes, feet eager to run to evil, a lying witness who gives false testimony,

and one who stirs up trouble among brothers. ” 1

B. Pride harms the individual 1
B. Pride harms the individual 1. Pride brings destruction Proverbs 16:18-19 “Pride comes before destruction, and an arrogant spirit before a fall. Better to be lowly of spirit with the humble than to divide plunder with the proud.”
10
Proverbs 18:12 “Before his downfall a man’s heart is proud, but humility comes before honor.”
11
2. Pride brings shame Proverbs 11:2 “When pride comes, disgrace follows, but with humility comes wisdom.” 3. Pride leaves little hope Proverbs 26:12 “Do you see a man who is wise in his own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for him.”
12
4. Pride will cause you to forget God Psalm 10:4 “In all his scheming, the wicked arrogantly thinks: There is no accountability, since God does not exist.” James 4:13-16 “Come now, you who say, Today or tomorrow we will travel to
13
such and such a city and spend a year there and do business and make a profit. You don’t even know what tomorrow will bring—what your life will be! For you are like smoke that appears for a little while, then vanishes. Instead, you should say, If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that. But as it is, you boast in your
14
arrogance. All such boasting is evil.”
15
Are you guilty of planning life and leaving God and His thoughts out?
16
C. God chastens the proud 1
C. God chastens the proud 1. God brings them low Proverbs 29:23 “A person’s pride will humble him, but a humble spirit will gain honor.” 2. God resists the proud
17
James 4:6-10 “But He gives greater grace
James 4:6-10 “But He gives greater grace. Therefore He says, God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble. Therefore, submit to God. But resist the Devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, sinners, and purify your hearts, double-minded people! Be

miserable and mourn and weep
miserable and mourn and weep. Your laughter must change to mourning and your joy to sorrow. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will exalt you.” “Be humble or be humbled!”
19
“Humility is to make a right estimate of one’s self. ”. -C. H
“Humility is to make a right estimate of one’s self.” -C.H. Spurgeon “Humility is recognizing that God and others are responsible for the achievements in my life.” -Bill Gothard

2. RESULTS OF HEARTFELT HUMILITY.
21
A. God’s grace Proverbs 3:33-34 “The Lord’s curse is on the household of the wicked, but He blesses the home of the righteous; He mocks those who mock, but gives grace to the humble.”
22
B. God’s forgiveness Proverbs 28:13-14 “The one who conceals his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them will find mercy. Happy is the one who is always reverent, but one who hardens his heart falls into trouble.”
23
C. God’s blessing I Peter 5:5-7 “And all of you clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble. Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God, so that He may exalt you at the proper time. Casting all your care on Him, because He cares about you.”
24
3. WHAT WILL YOU DO ABOUT YOUR OWN PRIDE AND HUMILITY?
25
“Nothing sets a person so much out of the devil’s reach as humility. ”
“Nothing sets a person so much out of the devil’s reach as humility.” -Jonathan Edwards
