1 Pre-Production Documents
By Karley Myall

2 Outline Script: Video First I will start with an introduction where I will start by asking the question ‘’Are your cosmetics cruelty free?’’ I will then move on to talking about my topic, I will go into talking about facts I have found out about animal testing. I will then keep talking about the topic and go on to talking about my visit at Lush, add in statistics. Thirdly I will be talking about the worse side of animal testing and how bad it really is, really trying to get my point across, and using really emotional vocabulary. I will then go onto really emphasizing the point of why I am doing this adding pictures, interviews I have done, adding statistics, facts. I will conclude by saying ''we need to stop animal testing''.

13 Filming in the town center.
Health and Safety. Activity Hazard Actions/ controls Who is at risk Level of risk Setting up the camera. People could trip over the equipment. Making sure that everything around is. People around the equipment. Medium. Setting up the tripod. There could be trip hazards around the equipment and it could accidently hit someone. Make sure all area around is clear and just warn people that you are putting equipment up. Filming in a store. There could be loads of people around and maybe something could spill or there could be trip hazards. Be careful where all electrical equipment is being placed, make sure the space around is clear to avoid an injury. People around the equipment/ in the store. Filming in the town center. During this the hazards could be that there are a lot of people around and it could affect the way the film is produced. Make sure that around me there is a lot of space and that it will be easier to record everything. People who are around my equipment. Signed: Kmyall Print name: Karley Myall Date: 23/05/16

14 Location Reece. Signature: Kmyall Name: Karley Myall Date: 23/05/16
Activity at each Location. Lighting Required? Position of sun? Clearance for shooting agreed with owners? Is there power available? Has access been agreed? Do the police/local council need to be informed? Audio problems, such as traffic noise or planes frequently flying over? Action taken to overcome each problem. Lush Store. There is really decent lighting in the shop itself. I have spoken to the people who work at the store and they have given me permission. There will be power available there if I really need it and all access has been agreed and no the police/local council will not need to be informed. There should not be any problems with audio if the area around me is clear and I set the equipment up properly, there may be background noise in various places but nothing like traffic noises etc. The actions I could do to overcome these problems are maybe ask permission just for people to quieten down as I’m recording. College. There is pretty good lighting in the college however if I do need more I will be able to get it. I have spoken to a few people for me to interview them and they have agreed. There will be power available if I need it and all access has been agreed and no police/local council need to be informed. There may be slight problems in College with audio being of the fact that there will be a lot of people talking and moving around and there will probably be times when that will enter my video as background noise. However there will not be any traffic noises etc. The actions I could do to overcome will be asking permission for people to quieten down and try and find a space that is not as crowded. Home. There is good lighting at my house however if I need it I will be able to access more. I have spoken to my family and they’ve agreed to be in my film. There will be power available there if I really need it and all access has been agreed and there is no need for police/local council to be contacted. At home there should not be any noises that should interfere with what I am doing, as I will be asking people to keep quiet whilst I do what I need to do. There won’t be any traffic noises etc. maybe the occasionally drop of an object or movement but nothing that will really affect the audio. I would not necessarily need to take action upon recording at home due to the fact that I will be doing it in a quiet place and I would have asked everyone beforehand to keep their noise down. Town Centre. Town will be good for lighting as its outside so I will be able to get a good lighting. I will be talking to a few people in town with their permission. There will not be power available really for this I will make sure everything is charged etc. All access has been agreed, I might need to contact the local council as it will be the town center I will be recording in. In the town center the sound effects will be the same as what it would be like at college as there will be a lot of people walking around and chatting and maybe the occasional traffic noises etc depending on where I film. The actions I could do to overcome this are try and pull the people aside to a quieter environment or just talk louder to block the noise out. Signature: Kmyall Name: Karley Myall Date: 23/05/16

22 Research Summarize Project: ‘Animal Testing’ The reason I chose ‘Animal Testing’ topic for my Final Major Project was because it is something I am extremely passionate about. I am really interested in how and why people agree and disagree with animal testing. Going to ‘lush’ was a great experience as I got to learn a lot more about the company and it really helped my project come together. The theory of my project was to explore the different sides of animal testing, one being agreeing and one being disagreeing. I achieved this by really looking around and researching different opinions using my own primary research to get different opinions for each side. My work is about wellbeing issue. I hope to give an insight in what animal testing is and why we should campaign to stop it. Whilst also looking at alternatives to using makeup brands that have been tested on animals and how there are products out there that are a whole lot better for your skin, but not tested on animals. Using You Tube to find documentaries and also going into the Lush store has really helped me to shape my project. It made me discover things I didn't really know. I managed to get lots of information about the topic, as well as various opinions on the subject. The facts and figures I will be showing in my video are all true and factual and all information I will be taking about in my video are statements from local animal shelters including the RSPCA. My previous video projects were very successful and I decided to use video as a main medium for my FMP and produce factual video piece as an end product. I am also planning to produce a poster to accompany my factual video work. All the skills that I have learned in the previous projects have informed me and helped me to execute better FMP. For example I have done an exercise on how to conduct an interview using single camera. I have learned ‘ green scree’ filming and editing techniques. All those skills are very valuable as I am planning to have interviews and use green screen in my FMP.
